WONDEREUR NO.90
“We were interested in the way some philosophers use the human figure as a way to represent a concept. They are abstract ideas, but the painters and philosophers use the human figure to make it easier to understand.”
Wondereur No.90 invites you to discover the playfully conceptual sculptures of a French art duo. Merging the human figure with allegory, the end result is a series of delightful and abstract statuettes called “bonshommes.” This artist duo is curated for Wondereur by one of the most influential forces in the French contemporary art scene: Jean-Max Colard. He is a critic and editor for Les Inrockuptibles, an art curator and programmer, and a jury member for the hottest exhibition space for young Parisian artists, the Ricard Foundation. Check back next Friday for the artist reveal and photo-documentary essay, showing the artists at work behind the scenes.
Photojournalist for Wondereur: Corentin Fohlen.
