I have only seen a Nile monitor lizard twice…quite  a creature. They have a snake-like head, strong claws and a mighty tail. I got a glimpse of this guy near the Grumetti river in Tanzania back in 2007. They can grow up to 2 m in length, although some sources say larger. Give him a click for full size.
