On Trend: Chelsea Boots

The trend for knee high boots is over - this season sees the return of ankle boots in so many great styles that they will go with anything.

Feminine dresses and skirts

The spring trend for floral print dresses can carry on through to late summer and autumn if you team them with cute ankle boots. Flat boots can create a military style or grunge look but heeled boots look ultra feminine with a colourful short dress or skirt. This style of boot can look great with any length of skirt but keep to dark colours for a more formal look or wear lighter shades to coordinate with your outfit in the office.

This autumn sees a new skirt style - the length is mid calf and it subtly flares out at the knee which hangs beautifully and gives a flowing movement as you move. The longer skirt length means that if you wear flat shoes you could risk looking frumpy so try it with heels or wedges instead. This very feminine skirt will also look great teamed with ankle boots with a chunky heel.

This season there are many styles of ankle boots including on trend Chelsea boots which are rising to the occasion. These classic boots have an elastic patch on the sides and are designed to fit perfectly at the ankle making them great to wear with skirts of any length. There are so many styles and variations on the Chelsea boot it is easy to make your outfit look unique.

Trousers and leggings

Chunky heeled Chelsea boots have always looked great with boot cut trousers or jeans. You can also wear them with skinny jeans or leggings tucked into the top for an up-to-date look. You can wear leggings with layered tops in emerald green or dusty pink for a soft feminine look. If you are layering tops, keep it simple with a few pieces. Mix neutral colours or patterned with plain to avoid clashing.

It is easy to liven up a formal work outfit or dress up a pair of jeans with coloured Chelsea boots and matching accessories. Suede boots will give your outfit texture while patent leather will create a more glamorous look for evening. You can also make a statement with boots in bright colours or embellished with studs.

Autumn colours

The must-have colours this autumn are emerald green and dusty pink. The ongoing trend for military styles also means that khaki is still popular. These colours look great in a matching outfit or paired with other neutral colours such as cream or beige. Chelsea boots are available in a great range of texture and colour making it easy to mix and match with your outfit. A variety of heel sizes allows you to choose a glamorous look for going out, or a look which is both stylish and practical.
