Sephora Color Daze Blockbuster
Eight months later, and a dozen of skin care products, I finally made a proper review about last year’s limited edition palette from Sephora: The Color Daze Blockbuster Palette.
This is an ideal starter set for people who wants to try make-up but don’t know where to start, or make-up artists who are still trying to build their portfolio/has insufficient budget. This limited edition is worth S$69/PHP2300 and it includes:
- 64 Waterproof Eye Shadows
- 12 Longwear Cream Eyeliners
- 6 Eye Top Coats
- 6 Lip Top Coats
- 48 Lipglosses
- 3 Blush
- 6 Multi-Purpose Cream for Eyes, Cheeks, and Lips
- 3 Multi-Purpose Luminizer
- 3 Makeup Brushes
- Mirror
This is what the palette looks like when closed; a simple cube with a latch on top. It’s pretty lightweight but doesn’t come with any handles though. I like that it’s in the shaped of a cube because I wouldn’t have to worry if I decide to bring it during my travels.
Then it expands like this:
Magic in a box!
The nude/natural colors
The rest of the eye shadows and luminizers at the edge.
The 48 lip glosses that I don’t use, sorry. And at the end are the blushers.
The palette comes with three brushes but the quality is so awful. Don’t even bother using them.
The focus of this review are the eye shadows because my eyes are my favorite facial feature. :) I really like the colors, they look so pretty and so pigmented. But they look dull and unnoticeable when applied on my eyes. :(
I browsed Pinterest for eye make-up inspiration, and ended up with the following results:
A mixture of the blue eye shadow palette. I applied the blue vigorously but still missed some spots. :(
Purple and orange/rosie eyeshadow. I don’t know what it’s called, there were no labels.
Ombre eyeliner. Different colors in both eyes, to see which one would stand out more.
What do you think?
VERDICT
I like that this palette is affordable; you get a lot for S$69/PHP2300! But if it’s only going to give me unsatisfactory result, the I might as well splurge the money somewhere else. Anyway, I found out that Zalora Philippines has a wide range of beauty products for as low as $5/PHP200! They even have a BB Cream that’s worth PHP50!
But it’s still is a great palette for beginners. When I used this, I was having a “Oh, I can totally do this” or “This technique works!” moment since I don’t apply makeup very often.
Sephora Blockbuster Palette: Hit or Miss? Hmm… Probably a miss.
Disclosure: I purchased this palette last year. Since it's a limited edition, this palette is no longer available in any Sephora stores.
