We recently spotted the striking label “Orange Culture” on the runway at the GTBank Lagos Fashion & Design Week 2013, a 3 day fashion extravaganza that was held in Lagos, Nigeria showcasing various collections from Nigerian designers. Nigerian fashion has transformed from being relevant only within the national borders to recognized on a mainstream platform. An emerging generation of fashion designers, fashion stylists, and fashionistas have familiarized themselves with Nigerian garb adding their own special flare to each piece.
I had the pleasure of interviewing the man behind the label Orange Culture, Adebayo Oke-Lawal. Adebayo is a graduate in Business Administration of the University of Lagos who has now turned into a fashion designer. He has evolved in the fashion world since he first began designing at the age of 10. His work ranges from styling and designing to journalism and writing. He has worked with numerous magazines such as 234next’s Elan, FAB magazine, and Ynaija. He has also been featured on websites such as 360nobs, and Bellanaija.
