Having never before even witnessed an eclipse, I was really excited to shoot this morning’s lunar eclipse. I set up along the Neuse River at about 4:45am, just before Earth’s shadow began to creep across the lunar surface. Over the next hour and a half, during the penumbra phase of the eclipse, the shadow continued across the moon. At total eclipse, the moon turned a beautiful orange/red “blood moon,” as it’s called. Just minutes after total eclipse, the sun rose and the moon set. A great way to start the morning! (All times EST)
