Irene 4 Contributor Spotlight: Drawings by Amy Lockhart.
Amy Lockhart is a filmmaker, cartoonist and animator whose animations have screened at festivals internationally. Her book Dirty Dishes was published by Drawn and Quarterly in 2009. She also did the cover for Nog a Dod, the collection of prehistoric Canadian psychedoolia published by Conundrum Press. For Irene 4, Amy produced some meditative, creepy pencil drawings of ladies. Some of them don’t have arms.

We’re proud to announce the first issue of Comics Workbook Magazine, debuting at CAB.
This magazine features an interview with Sam Alden by T.S. Moreau, essays on Nancy by Dorothy Berry, and an interview with Comics Workbook Composition Competition 2013 winner Dave Ortega. We also have new comics by Oliver East, Sarah Horrocks, and Zach Mason. The cover was drawn by Sam Alden.
Comics Workbook Magazine is put together by Andrew White (Editor / Wrangler), Zach Mason (Editorial Asst + Design), and Frank Santoro (Editorial Supervision).

Joyana McDiarmid ( heartsandminis ) is not only the head editor/administrator/designer/creator of Maple Key Comics, but is an extremely talented cartoonist as well! Her new work “Hale” will run for the first six issues of Maple Key Comics.
McDiarmid earned her MFA in Cartooning from the Center for Cartoon Studies in 2013. Her work up to this point has been characterized by her interest not only in telling poignant, often painful stories about self-destruction and redemption, but also by her background in medical and scientific illustration. “Hale” focuses on an estranged family in the not-too-distant future whose individual problems draw them back together to try and work out what it means to be a family.
