Love as a fatal wound?
This detail of a french illuminated manuscript shows our favorite Valentine’s Day ally cornering a wandering lover in a garden. The lover describes, “The God of Love immediately from afar began to follow me, bow in hand. Now God protect me from a mortal wound if he goes so far as to shoot me.”
