“Masquerade” by tergiversatory-proxy

A faint wind brushed past as Hawke lead him to the balcony. They took a moment to admire how the clamor of the ball was now reduced to a dull murmur, the light snow drifting lazily past, and the faint glow of Kirkwall below. Anders caught Hawke smirking at him as he adjusted his mask.

“Is this what you did with all those feathers that fell out of my pauldrons?” Anders mused, breath pluming before him in the chilly night air.

“Not exactly. It’s custom-made because there’s not a single mask that would’ve been long enough to fit your nose.”

Laughter rumbled from his chest. “You’re too kind, love.” Hawke smiled and drew herself against a pillar, pulling him after. He leaned in so his porcelain beak nudged her own, and noticed her gaze lingering past his shoulder.

“What are you up now?”

“Just entertaining our guests.” she replied, before covering his crooked smile with her lips. He returned the gesture with his own slow, deep kiss. It was clumsy at first, as both struggled to keep each mask on. All the guests recognized them by now, but this was the game they liked to play.

Eventually Anders drew back just enough so his warm, amber eyes could meet her own. Tonight there was an almost predatory look to them, magnified by the dark enamel and curling copper lines that framed his face. A lopsided smirk tugged at his lips as a thought occurred to him.

“Now just what will be the gossip by tomorrow? The Champion of Kirkwall was thrust against a pillar as her dark and dashing apostate lover towered over. He did not bother to remove their masks as he went on to ravish her in front of all the guests - and not only the Knight-Captain, but the Knight Commander herself.

“Kinky -  I approve. But what if you’re mistaken, and all our guests are convinced you’re some mysterious Orlesian prince?”

“I’m no prince,” he growled into her ear. “I’m the roguishly handsome mage here to steal the kiss and whisk you away into the night.”

“Then by all means, do continue.” she whispered before he met her lips with a hungry kiss.

AWW THIS IS SO ADORABLE AWWWW BUT I LAUGHED AT
