An officer responded to a residence on Brailsford Boulevard in Summerville in reference to an accidental shooting of a juvenile. When he arrived, he spoke to several witnesses, who said the subject, a 22 year old black male, came into the family room while they were playing video games, put his hand in his pocket to retrieve something and pulled out a .22 caliber pistol. The gun went off, shooting the victim in the right shoulder.
While the officer was there, the subject, who was not initially present when the officer arrived, returned. He told the officer he had thrown the gun in a bush outside the residence.
The officer got the gun from the bush and ran the serial number through dispatch. It came back stolen, and soon the subject was on his way to jail, charged with possession of a stolen gun.
