Google Buys Motorola Mobility for $12.5 Billion

In a somewhat dropping share of the Motorola Mobile Business, Google purchases the US Mobile Giant. But what is actually left after the success of the RAZR? Surprisingly with even with 11million RAZRs sold in Q2, Motorola hasn’t really been able to catch up significantly, and has still posted losses.

What does this mean to android users? Not a lot - Google will still License the technology as before. It does of course put them on the path for other mobile ventures, considering they now can design, manufacture and sell the mobile handsets that will run Android, and all of the other Google products out there.

What does this mean to Motorola Mobility? About $40 per share.

We have seen more and more movement by Google in this space over the years. They know where the market is heading. We will see more consolidation with Android and mobile; mobile advertising is where revenues will come from. We’ll see more from Google in this space.
