That’s me. August 2013, Ohio.

Today was my first day of school! I’m officially a grad student now, working towards my master’s in population and social gerontology.

I’ve got to say: I was surprised how nervous I was driving (yes, driving!) to campus this morning. For so long, I’ve wanted to do this, to devote my full time to studying and helping older people. Maybe my anxiety stemmed from needing it to go well? Needing it to feel right?

Thankfully, it did. First day, accomplished.

As for the weeks and months ahead, when I need a little boost, I’m going to remember this Einstein quote the professor cited in my first class:

Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new.

Here goes nothing! And, perhaps, everything.
