Tonight at the Schnitz, Dr. Neil DeGrasse Tyson gave an enlightening and hilarious talk on the critical importance of science in society. I was charmed by his combination of expertise and comic spontaneity. This is his response to a woman in the audience who asked what we can tell our children to help them take an active interest in science. His answer was priceless. “Children are born scientists. They’re curious about everything around them. What happens? We spend the first year of their lives teaching them to walk and talk. And we spend the rest of their lives telling them to shut up and sit down."
Keep being your unabashed, awesome self! Your wit, wisdom, and integrity make you a hero to many.
