“Breaking the Angle Against the Tide” by Craft Spells // Nausea (Out 6.10.14 via Captured Tracks)
Craft Spells have been quietly working on their forthcoming album for a while now, and we finally have a taste of what awaits. “Breaking the Angle Against the Tide” is the first single from Nausea and it is a killer opening shot. Building on the band’s already gorgeous dream pop with a synth twist vibe, the new track feels like a band rejuvenated and pushing outside of the walls that have previously housed them. There’s a darker urgency that comes through in crisp guitars and driving beats (and that well timed strings section doesn’t hurt) that was missing on the band’s Gallery EP. I’m digging everything about this new track and hopefully there’s more of this ahead when Nausea drops in June from Captured Tracks.
