Well dressed, well read

Today, I visited an area Equestrian Center for children with special needs with one of my clients. It was so interesting to see how these kids with issues like Cerebral Palsy, Autism, and muscular dysfunction felt so at ease with these massive animals. You’d think they’d be intimidated (I was a little bit!), but after brushing them and talking to them for a little bit, they hop up there are smiling the whole time.

The kids only ride for about 20-30 minutes, but it helps them work on building core strength, stretching, and even their school work. Sometimes while they ride they do math problems, practice spelling words, or play games that get them to work on balance.

Aren’t animals amazing? Everyone kept saying that these horses can sense how these kids need a nice, gentle ride and are especially sweet to their little riders. They were so calm. I love seeing people do work that makes such a difference like this place does.
