Update on meDrive + Pics
In the above slides, I’ve added a screen shot so that you can see the Mac view and the iOS view of the meDrive. The image on the iPad is stored on the meDrive. It is a simple handout scanned (rather badly by me) using Readdle’s Scanner Pro on an iPad Mini. The scan was webdav’d straight to meDrive from within the app. It’s now ready for a riveting annotation session with Readdle’s Remarks app. It could be webdav’d straight back to the drive from the student.
Ok! So from the front it almost looks cool, a mini stack thing. From the rear mmm electric squid…
- meDrive (£79.00) note powered by MBA USB not the Airport Express
- 1TB Freecom USB 3.0 (£65.00 eBay)
- Airport Express (whatever they are these days) But Extreme is more sensible.
This is not expensive for a school to buy. If I can unpack and plug in and it works… then most people could do this. So I’m thinking…. cables yuk. It looks like some kind of electrical squid. It would be nice to have this in one discrete box. But then it is so easy to use. I know there is webdav in OSX server, but seriously, have you tried this in school? It falls over far too much and is not plug and play like this.
The plus side to the meDrive is that any teacher can attach a drive quickly, to pick up or distribute iPad content to students. The downside is that meDrive needs USB power. Here it is driven by my MBA for travelling duties. At home it will be powered by my Time Capsule. So it needs to be kept where there is access to USB power. Airport Extreme and Time Capsule are both perfect fits.
