This is Thin Privilege

From an episode of Grey’s Anatomy

(because why watch TV for examples of fat shaming when trolls can do it for you? -ATL)

From the episode (in the voice of a character):

Thin privilege is having your sex life and pregnancy taken seriously. I’m  a thin woman married to a very fat man and we’re expecting a baby. If you go by the BMI scale, my husband would be considered “morbidly obese”. He had to go to the hospital and the doctors were very rude to us because they needed a special bed for his weight. Anyway, I went to the cafeteria at lunchtime, and I saw a bunch of doctors (all of them thin) mocking my husband and me and loudly wondering how we managed to conceive a baby. One doctor even used their hamburger and french fries to mock how my husband and I conceived our child! I confronted them about it and they shut up, but it still hurt.

Thin privilege is having your sex life taken seriously. Thin privilege is having your ability to conceive a child taken seriously. I’m so mad I’m fucking furious, and this enlightened me about the shit fat people have to go through.
