Thoughts, photos and other things.

I find it incrdible that the french media have gone to what I would consider extraordinary measures by naming the alleged rape victim in the Strauss-Kahn case.

My mind absolutely boggles at how the media came to the conclusion that it would be in ANYBODY’s best interests to publish the name of an alleged victim of a rape. If there is even the slightest possibility that someone has undergone such trauma is it really necessary to make that persons life that bit more difficult?

I completely fail to see who is benefiting from the publication of the name as I have said it is not really in anyones interests. If anything it could lead to the victim of having to change her identity!

I really don’t want to go into the specifics of the Dominique Strauss-Kahn case however it does seem a little fishy. After-all it could lead to the alleged victims refusal to testify or in some other way hinder proceedings.

There is no point pontificating over whether what the french press decided to do was right though. It categorically wasn’t and it is a true shame that they have decided to stoop this low.
