Miniatures magnified & the process. Not pictured (as much): the joy of working in pjs
This winter break, my last lengthy break as a grad student at FSU was entirely consumed by an enjoyable project. It was wonderful break, I got to see Tegan and Sara with a good friend, another friend got married, my friend who is basically family came to visit from Libya, got to see many other old friends, and I spent a lot of time with my family, which I admittedly do not get to do very much.
So I took the following miniature painting and made a larger replica, by request. It was an interesting process, though I may not do another replica again because I wanted to be very imaginative with this but I had to use a lot of restrain.
This is the original: 8 by 11 inches.
This is the replica: 29 by 41 inches
This is the process:
Tea staining the paper, a skill I learned in the summer of 2011 in Pakistan. I did not use it again until just then. In retrospect, I would like to make it a regular part of the process.
