Grrreattt Recipes! andd Apples!

I was introduced to this website the other day by our Slow Food member, Stephanie Bartzick. She made these beet and apple muffins from the website that were absolutely delicious utilizing our CSA and the apples that we picked from the local orchard, Little Tree Orchards. Further exploration of this website has led me to believe that I am in love. These are some awesome recipes and awesome ways to utilize those seasonal veggies and locally sourced foods! So, read on, let your mouth water, and explore what you can do with your food. :)

PS. This weekend (Sept. 30-Oct. 2) is Apple Fest in Ithaca, so IC Slow Food decided for our community dinner this week to pre-game with some apple pickin’ and apple dishes. If you are in the Ithaca area and would like to partake in some local apple picking fun, then I would suggest going to Little Tree Orchards. They have fresh made apple cider doughnuts everyday while you are there, homemade apple cider, and a beautiful variety of apple/pear trees, and other fruit. Here is the website—>  http://www.littletree-orchards.com/, which includes hours that they are open, and directions. So, enjoy the seasonal fruits of New York, and support your local businesses!
