I grew up in Lexington, SC which is about 20 minutes away from the state capital, Columbia. During my senior year of high school my parents moved to Maryland and because of this I do not go “home” very often. In fact, in the past 7 years of being away from Lexington I have only visited maybe a dozen times. If would have been much less, but Lexington is right in the middle of Clemson (where I went to college) and Charleston (where my family lives now) so it made sense to stop once in a while.
Now, why have I told you this? Well, Columbia has recently become the place where I go to meet up with friends from college. Most recently, I took the hour and a half trip up I-26 to visit my friend, Dia. She was doing some business in Greenville and was kind enough to meet me for lunch. Oddly enough, Dia and I met at Clemson right before she graduated, and despite the fact that we weren’t very close before she left, we have since become very good friends.
P.S. Our faces look like this because we were frustrated with the poor quality of the front-facing iPhone camera. We were forced to use it because someone (me) can’t operate the proper camera to take a self-portrait.
