President Ford Appoints Donald Rumsfeld Chief of Staff
President Ford announced that he would appoint Donald Rumsfeld as his Chief of Staff on September 24, 1974. Rumsfeld coordinated White House operations until October 1975 when he was named Secretary of Defense.
