Diverse Panelists Wanted for New York Comic Con

and I’m opening up the call for panelists for my NYCC application. FYI – I have been a panel organizer for NYCC for the last three years; people can see videos of my past panels from 2013 & 2014 here:

Below are the ideas I’m going to propose this year:
1) Geeks of Color, Third Edition: Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger
Looking for professionals in comics, film, television, publishing, new media,and animation to talk about this year as a Geek of Color in their Industry. Especially looking for fresh voices I haven’t featured previously, but previous panelists may apply. Must have worked at least five years in your current industry. Intersectionality welcomed (LGBTQA, differently-abled, neuroatypical, working/lower class, etc)2) Gatekeepers: Straight from the Horse’s Mouth
Looking for professionals in comics, film, television, publishing, new media, and animation who would be classified as a “gatekeeper” to talk about the move toward diversity from their perspective. Types of people I’m interested in: producers, casting directors, editors, agents, etc. Must have worked at least five years in your current industry. Intersectionality welcomed (PoC, LGBTQA, differently-abled, neuroatypical, working/lower class, etc)Details:
- If you are accepted to participate, you *must* be prompt with all email correspondence during the application process.- You *must* be available for October 8th & 9th, 2015. Due to previous commitments, I won’t be able to accept scheduling on the Saturday or Sunday of NYCC.
- If the panel is accepted, one free presenter badge will be given for compensation. Neither NYCC nor myself can provide accommodation or transportation to NYC or NYCC.
- Please be sure to contact me by JULY 10th. I will inform people whether they have been accepted by JULY 15th.
