'Map of Life' will track every animal and plant in the world
An ambitious project at the University of Colorado Boulder aims to map every single species in the entire world. It’s called the “Map of Life”.
The project will show the location of every known plant and animal, displaying point-observation data (field observations or museum specimens), ranges drawn by biologists, and regional data that shows the maximum extent of their range. You can also search for all species in a particular area, by right-clicking on any point.
