The Artist (2011) - Hollywood, 1927: As silent movie star George Valentin wonders if the arrival of talking pictures will cause him to fade into oblivion, he sparks with Peppy Miller, a young dancer set for a big break.

Guys.  I just saw this at the opening night of the Santa Fe Film Festival.  It is.  So unbelievably amazing.  It's a silent film, made in 2011.  Wrap your mind around that one.  But what it does with sound is absolutely beyond words.  It's funny to the point of tears, touching to the point of tears, and everything in between.  The festival circuit is already calling it an Oscar contender.  Absolutely the most unique, joyful movie you'll see all year.  (But, uh, do yourself a favor and don't watch the trailer?  It gives too much away.)
