On this day in 1979, the New York Knicks retired the #10 of Walt “Clyde” Frazier, who led the franchise to its only two NBA championships in 1970 and 1973. The seven-time All-Star held Knicks records for most games and minutes played, field goals attempted and made, free throws attempted and made, assists and points; although Patrick Ewing would eventually break most of Frazier’s marks, his assists record (4,791) still stands.
