Community Advanced Safety Features Review

image

Director Rob Schrab brings us the funniest Community episode yet this season. A pseudo sequel to Digital Exploration of Interior Design, its over-the-top product placement and hilarious heart puts it among Community’s best.

The episode deftly handled multiple storylines as Honda, guerilla marketed by our old friend Subway, was hilariously, overly promoted in the most Community of ways. Britta and Rick’s relationship was hilarious, as was Jeff’s insecurity, Chang’s powerpoint, the Natalie is Freezing concert, steel drums, and the Dean’s level seven susceptibility. There were numerous stand out moments, but the below scene between Frankie and the Dean is comedy gold. She rates higher on my list of favorite characters every episode.

The jokes hit so rapidly it was sometime hard to keep up, and whenever they spent extended time on a gag it would get exponentially funnier. This is the true Community, where you ache to watch it again because you blink and miss meta brilliance. It again takes the mundane and makes it insane, this episode standing as pinnacle of what Greendale is, a school where current students will flock to the degree raffle at an alumni dance.

Watch Advanced Safety Features on Yahoo Screen now. And if you buy a Honda because of this episode, remember I had nothing to do with it. The 2015 Honda CRV sells itself, that’s why it’s this year’s motor transport utility of the year.
