About the author

An expert in securitized debt structures, mezzanine financing, preferred equity, high-yield debt, and straight balance sheet debt, Mark Dawejko has orchestrated real estate transactions in the United States and Japan worth upwards of $7 billion. A proven manager, he has spent the last 25 years improving the quality and volume of portfolios at such reputable firms as GE Capital Real Estate, Wachovia Securities, and Peat Marwick Mitchell & Co. (today KPMG). In recent years, Mark Dawejko launched Wachovia’s equity investment and property lending business in Tokyo, took over leadership of the firm’s $4 billion Mid-Atlantic portfolio, and quadrupled production in the under-performing Atlanta office inside of 12 months.

Since 2009, Mark Dawejko has headed his own investment enterprise based near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The firm combines an active investment program—offering select securities, equities, and covered call writing—with an acquisitions arm that focuses on distressed properties. To date, the company’s portfolio includes real estate in Michigan, South Carolina, Delaware, and Pennsylvania. Mr. Dawejko also consults on occasion with investment and real estate firms and has formed strategic alliances to complete venture capital transactions. He is currently on the Board of Directors of the publicly traded Blue Ridge Real Estate Company and Big Boulder Corporation.

Mark Dawejko spent the early stage of his professional life as a CPA with Peat Marwick and as a Vice President at an East Coast real estate company based in Philadelphia. Between 1994 and 2000, he performed in a series of high-level positions with GE Capital Real Estate. He ultimately served as Managing Director of the Strategic Ventures Group, where he spearheaded the purchase of Storage USA, the country’s second largest self-storage real estate investment trust.

Outside of work, Mr. Dawejko takes an active role in a church-sponsored charity that provides meals to Philadelphians in need. He also supports The Haverford School and The Baldwin School.
