NEW QUESTIONS
1. What’s more important: Writing or reading?
Let us get the most boring answer out of the way: writing and reading are about equally important. Reading lets you learn about words, sentences, structures and stuff like that. Are there certain tricks to the writing profession? Reading is the perfect teacher of such things. Writing on the other hand… is also so very important. Some time ago I began to write all of my dreams down, when I could remember them. This means, of course, that there are days when I begin to write before I had my first coffee. It is a kind of torture. But please, aspiring writers, do it. Write a lot! Then write some more. You are gonna grow.
2. The first line of the book you are currently reading?
Was hast du nur, Alceste? (What is the matter, Alceste?)
3. Have you always been into reading?
Yes! As soon as I learned how to read, I always did. There was a time, when I read mostly books of the Star Wars Expanded Universe. My mother then recommended Homo Faber to me. This was when I discovered my taste for literary fiction. I do not remember how old I was then. Not very, I presume.
4. Is there a book you can’t get yourself to read?
Yes and how I tried! It is just so… long?! (Ulysses by Joyce)
5. Which book is next on your list?
Something with “time” in the title by Philip K. Dick. Or maybe Crime and Punishment.
6. What inspires you?
My own dreams and sometimes sounds and music.
7. Is there a book you can recommend?
Yes! Please, everyone, read the Shipping News by Annie Proulx. It is so good, it will destroy every other book you might possess. I could not read anything else for half a year. Nothing else held up. Ah, maybe you should not read it after all.
8. Why do you use Tumblr (not Wordpress or others)?
When I tried to manipulate the HTML-Code of my Wordpress-Blog, it would only let me if I paid. I would not have that. So here I am. I use a pre-made template at tumblr now but I kind of fell in love with the community.
9. Is it hard for you to stay offline?
Yes, I love to get all the information I went whenever I want.
10. Where do you want to live someday?
Somewhere cold. Or Leipzig, I really like Leipzig.
11. What matters in life for you?
To be in company sometimes and to be alone sometimes. Also creativity and beauty (like, you know, beauty in all that surrounds us and such).
Now to tag 11 new people! Haha, just kidding. I will handle it like fraujach and let everyone answer these new questions below as they see fit. Knock yourselves out. Okay, let us tag just some: emlin-borkschert, bauchgedanke, wasunsausmacht, weltenweber, grossstadtgeschichten, insideofbooks!
Here are the new questions: 1. What is your (emotionally) most prized book? 2. Where do you go to acquire new books? 3. A wizard comes along and makes your favorite story ever appear out of thin air. What is it about? 4. Another wizard comes along and transports you into your favorite book. What character are you? 5. Enough with the wizards! What do you see when your imagination runs rampant? 6. Nice, you became a famous author. Could you describe your residence of choice? 7. A friend of yours asks you to criticize his manuscript. How honest are you? 8. A friend of yours hates your manuscript and he is very open about it. That scoundrel! What will your revenge be? 9. Silence or music when you write/read? 10. Are you where you want to be? Where is room for improvement? 11. What makes you laugh?
