From Brooklyn to Berlin, DJ and MC wonderkid Stimulus has shared the FW story with audiences around the world. Today, we’re sharing the first single and video off his new mixtape.
He hit us up last week and told us he had something new, inspired by the one and only Michael Jackson.
“MJ inspired this mixtape because he has such a large body of work. As a DJ and music lover, it’s impossible to escape MJ’s influence. It spans over four decades and multiple genres. Every song on this project samples MJ. The one song that is not a sample reinterprets a song in way that allows the listener to still hear the original.”
Stim leaked the “Where the Dreams Are” on the anniversary of Jackson’s birthday last week, “Where the Dreams Are” is a classic, dream-big, never-give-up anthem for children of the future.
“The song definitely references the vast amount of opportunities given to us today. The technology that is accessible to many people around the world helps to make it smaller. We can learn more and learn it more quickly and communicate with more people regardless of physical distance. Contact via the internet is great, but using that initial contact to bring yourself face to face with people can make an even stronger connection.”
Follow Stimulus on Twitter and Facebook to catch the mix tape when it drops on September 10th.
He has run with us far, for years, and gave a bit of advice to those who are joining our journey now; "tell the story. Pay attention to those listening. Answer as many questions as you can and connect as many people as possible."
