The lawns have been manicured, the flowers watered and players warmed up for Wimbledon 2014, the grand slam tennis tournament in England.

The 41 mown grass courts will soon feel the thud of tennis shoes from 480 players, and 38,500 daily visitors are expected descend on the All England Lawn Tennis Club grounds in Southwest London over the next two weeks.

As well as being one of four major tennis grand slams throughout the year, Wimbledon has a special attraction for its quintessentially British feel—particularly the consumption of strawberries and cream and Pimm’s drinks. It is estimated 28,000 kilograms of strawberries, 7,000 liters of cream and 200,000 glasses of Pimm’s will be consumed over the two-week event. Also in keeping with the traditions of the event, players adhere to an all-white dress code, and staff wear navy and green uniforms.

Last year, Andy Murray (@andymurray) became the first British player in 77 years to win the men’s singles championship at Wimbledon when he beat Siberia’s Novak Djokovic (@djokernole).

“I can’t wait to get started on Monday,” he says. “I love playing at Wimbledon, and it’s an honor to open The Championships, I’ll give it everything I’ve got.”

Victoria Azarenka (@vichka35) is also preparing for The Championships. “I’m so excited to be back at Wimbledon,” she says. “Before the tournament begins you can catch me at Wimbe village, the Player’s Party, and, oh, it’s strawberries and cream season! But when the tournament starts, I’m all business.”

This year, Instagrammers were given access to the lawns ahead of play, and tennis stars have been sharing behind the scenes from Wimbledon in the lead up to The Championships. For a behind-the-scenes look, check out the following accounts on Instagram:
