Black Rock City – Photos from Burning Man 2012

What started as a small gathering at San Francisco’s Baker Beach in 1986 has turned into a popup city of 50,000+ in the Black Rock Desert 120 miles north of Reno, Nevada. Many who have been to previous Burning Man events say that it’s impossible to explain or describe the experience to those who have never been, and that it’s something you must experience firsthand.

For the unfortunate people who could not procure tickets in this year’s complex multi-round, random selection system of ticket sales – or those who simply couldn’t escape to the desert for 7 days – many beautiful photographs of the themed camp sites, art, unexpected dust storms, and the spectacular burning of the wooden Man have been shared with Instagram at Black Rock City and #burningman2012.
