Weekend Hashtag Project: #WHPstrideby

Weekend Hashtag Project is a series featuring designated themes & hashtags chosen by Instagram’s Community Team. For a chance to be featured on the Instagram blog, follow @instagram and look for a post announcing the weekend’s project every Friday.

This weekend’s hashtag project takes its inspiration from a favorite in the community: #strideby. The goal this weekend is to capture photos and videos of solitary people walking through interesting locations. Some tips to get you started:

  • Seek out a street or thoroughfare that’s lightly trafficked. Aim to capture one person (or a small group) to make them the focal point of your photo.
  • Pay attention to your background. Whether it’s a wall of windows, a graffiti mural or a rolling field, whatever fills the frame behind the person walking helps create the story of the moment.
  • Try standing on the opposite side of the street to frame your shot. This will help you show more context by showing more background and let you be less noticeable if you’re taking photos of strangers. To stage a strideby photo or video, you can always bring a friend and repeat it until you get it just right.

PROJECT RULES: Please only add the #WHPstrideby hashtag to photos taken over this weekend and only submit your own photographs to the project. Any image taken then tagged over the weekend is eligible to be featured right here Monday morning!
