Fall 2013 Career Showcase
Career Showcase will be held on October 1st and 2nd, 2013 from 9am - 3pm in the Stephen O'Connell Center. This event is open to UF students and alumni only. Career Showcase features full-time jobs and internships and offers students and alumni a great opportunity to network with employers and explore a position or organization that they had not previously considered.

Career Planning
Our Career Planning staff can help students choose a major, explore interesting career options or start an internship/job search.
Career Planning Express Drop In Hours
CRC Library | Weekdays | 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Students can drop in for assistance with a variety of career-related topics like developing a resume, cover letter, personal statements, mock interviews,  and general job search strategies.

Students can request an appointment with one of our Career Planning staff members either in person, phone, or Skype.

Events that help students prepare for or connect with employment and prepare for Career Showcase.

Impressing the Recruiter (Presented by Target)
September 10th, 5pm-7:30pm, CRC Library
Students can come  join our team as we discuss how to ‘Impress the Recruiter’ at career fairs, info sessions, workshops, etc.! Target executives will be presenting on first impressions, power stories, what to wear, and what questions to ask and which not to ask of recruiters.

Career Fair Boot Camp
September 17th, 4:05pm-5pm, CRC Library
Experts will discuss the many ways to prepare for Career Showcase, how to create a dynamic 2-minute commercial, how to navigate the fair and the things students can do to stand out in a crowd. Tips from this presentation can also be applied to their overall job and internship search.

Suit Up for Success presented by Dillard’s
Suit Up is a professional dress workshop that answers all the questions students need to know about how to dress for success as they prepare for Career Showcase and all the job interviews that they get afterward. We won’t just cover what to wear; we will also be giving tips on makeup and hair.

International Student Services will be presenting info sessions about CPT, OPT and STEM OPT. Please attend to learn about your ability to do an internship during your program of study and to work after graduation. The Career Resource Center will also be available at the end of each presentation to provide you with information about CRC services.

Showcase Survival- presented by Macy’s
September 23rd, 6pm-9pm, CRC Classroom
Macy’s will present on “Dress for Success”, while the CRC will challenge students’ knowledge of soft skills, while informing them of all the tips and tricks to make their showcase experience as pleasurable and productive as possible! Refreshments will be served and prizes will be awarded.

Ace the Interview (Presented by TQL)
September 24th 4pm-5:30pm
Total Quality Logistics will be leading a workshop that teaches students how to perfect the interview process.

Brand U (Personal Branding Workshop)
September 24th, 4:30pm–5:30pm, Library
Students can take a look at the best way to market themselves to employers and discuss what messages they are sending about themselves through social media, their resumes and cover letters, and even their behavior in the classroom.

Certified Gator Professional Series      
The Certified Gator Professional (CGP) is a series of personal and professional development workshops that review with students the skills and strategies needed to succeed in a professional setting. Once students have attended the three sessions (each presented multiple times throughout the semester), they will be a Certified Gator Professional. Two of the three workshops will occur this month:
        Purposefully Prepare for Your Search
September 9th, 4:10pm-5pm, CRC Classroom  
This workshop will guide students in evaluating their past experiences, recognizing their transferable skills, learning where and how to search for a position, and understanding the best practices of an internship and/or job search.
        Professionalism and Your Brand
September 25th, 4:10pm-5pm, CRC Classroom
This workshop will cover topics that include creating and maintaining a brand, networking, and understanding the many components of professionalism.

The Real Truth: Diversity in the Workplace
September 26th, 6pm-8pm, CRC Library
This employer panel will allow students to submit questions anonymously and reveal the REAL truth about diversity in the work place while giving them tips to prepare for situations that may arise.  Students will also have a chance to network with the panel after questions are answered.

 Acing the Interview - presented by TQL
September 26th, 4pm – 5:30pm

Early Connections
September, 30th 6-9pm, CRC Library
The event begins with a student workshop on personal branding, then will progress to a reception with employers and small group “speed interviewing”.  The twist is that the students will interview employers to discover professional development tips, and receive direct feedback on their network/soft skills, while allowing employers to engage on a more personal level with diverse groups of students.
