Jami Cakes is playing on sculptured balls in Edinburgh. They vary in size and design. They have a superficial appearance of carved stone balls, A Neolithic form of material culture. Found in Festival Square, the work is titled “First Conundrum” by artist Remco de Fouw (2000) . A plaque next to the spherical balls reads: ancient Carved Stone believed to have been formed during the Neolithic. Have been found throughout Scotland. There are many theories surrounding the possible origin and purpose. They remain a uniquely Scottish history that continues to inspire thousands of years later and have been the artist’s inspiration his artwork. #art #sculpture #publicart #remcodefouw #spherical
