Why I Think You Shouldn’t See The Deadpool Movie

image
Deadpool Rated MA15+ Starring Ryan Reynolds This is not an easy review to write. I enjoyed this movie. A lot. But I can not recommend it. In fact, if you are a Christian, I recommend that you avoid this movie. Especially if you are under 18. Now, I know in Australia you can legally see this movie if you are 15 or over. Younger if you see it with your parents. But let me explain why I think this…

In your review you say that the comics have never been as violent and adult as the movie is - and I haven’t been reading them long or read many personally, but I have seen the odd page here and there and Deadpool’s comics seem pretty bloody and violent, and he has a lot of sexual innuendo in his humour even if they don’t often draw nudity and sex within the comic.

I just think that if reading the comics for 20 years didn’t contradict your faith then I’m not sure why the movie does?

This article on Bleeding Cool might give you some more context on the “adultness” of the Deadpool comics - http://www.bleedingcool.com/2016/01/18/rob-liefeld-weighs-in-on-pg-r-and-x-rated-cuts-of-deadpool/

A fundamental part of the Christian faith is freedom. For example we are free to watch what ever we want. But that doesn’t mean it will be helpful. What I’m saying in my review is that I did not find the movie helpful as a Christian. I’m not telling anyone what to do. I’m just helping Christian people make informed decisions. Feel free to ignore me. I’m okay with that.
