I was shown how fragile life was on Saturday. I saw the terror on bystanders’ faces. I saw the victims of a senseless crime. I saw lives change. I was reminded that we don’t know when or where our time on Earth will end. When or where we will breathe our last breath. For one man, it was in the middle of a busy food court on a Saturday evening.
I say all the time that every moment we have to live our life is a blessing. So often I have found myself taking it for granted. Every hug from a family member. Every laugh we share with friends. Even the times of solitude are all blessings. Every second of every day is a gift. After Saturday evening, I know I truly understand how blessed I am for each second I am given.
I feel like I am overreacting about what I experienced. But I can’t help but be thankful for whatever caused me to make the choices that I made that day. My mind keeps replaying what I saw over in my head. I hope the victims make a full recovery. I wish I could shake this odd feeling from my chest. The feeling that’s reminding me how blessed I am. The same feeling that made me leave the Eaton Center. The feeling that may have potentially saved my life.
Jessica Redfield (real last name: Ghawi) was shot and killed last night at a midnight screening of ‘The Dark Knight Rises,’ along with 11 others when a gunman opened fire in a theater. Every day this same thought runs a marathon through my thirsty skull: I have completely wasted my intelligence.
Some days I even think it would be easier if I were born dumb, at least then the guilt would be a great deal lighter. Oh, what’s that saying? ignorance is fucking bliss. I’m smarter than most but I dare you would never guess. I would call myself pathetic, though, I’m better than that now; I just have a lot of catching up to do.
I would hate to be a groundhog today.
I think I might go watch a marathon of Angry Beavers.

I had a dream last night that I kept getting lost in the neighborhood I grew up in. (the neighborhood I’m living in once again.) Intertwined with that dream, I was having another one where I was a nurse and I kept losing my patients. They weren’t dieing, they just kept going missing.
Inception has fucked with my head. I think I need to see it again. I don’t see a lot of movies nor do I like many more movies than that. I have a very particular taste; but when I love a film, I am all in. My movie collection isn’t large but it’s GOOD and before anyone starts calling me out on ‘a walk to remember’ or ‘my sassy girl’ I would like to remind everyone that I’m still the silly hapless, hopeless romantic I have always been. And that isn’t going to change. And I deserve to have a few craptastic films in my collection.
Two nights before I swallowed a thousand pills my grandfather showed up in my dream. He just held me, the feeling of being wrapped in his arms again was extraordinary. It felt like home, a home I’ve been away from for many, many years. I wanted to be in his arms again. I couldn’t get the feeling or image out of my head for two long days.
I think I’ll go see Inception again this week. Oh and Hey! Decode my dreams!

This marks the second time this week that I’ve been awake for 36(+) hours in a row. I wouldn’t mind the insomnia if not for the extreme aches. I would take insomnia over my nightmares any-fucking-day, especially if I had some muscle relaxers. A Valium would be beautiful right now, except for the feeling numb part. Numbness doesn’t fix problems. Fact.
The nightmares have gotten really bad again; you were suppose to always be there to wake me from my screaming. You promised. Swee'Pea isn’t thrilled.

I totally fell asleep on the table. To sleep during a shin tattoo while metal is blaring through the stereo deserves a medal. It’s never a good idea to get tattoos the day after you get wasty face. But we needed to give @mariopartyprincess a proper New Orleans send off. Words can’t describe how much I’m going to miss this beautiful lady. We’ve been through so much together in the past 14 years, it kills me that she won’t be here in person to call me out on my bullshit, no one can snap me out of my crazy like she can. 😹😹😹 I love you Melanie, dammit Los Angeles (and Ryan!) you better take of my girl.
