FAQ #1: Decisions, Decisions, Decisions

Alright Dons (and future Dons), as the new year begins to get settled I see you all asking very similar questions so I figured I’d round up a few of those frequently asked questions and give them to you all in a nice easy format:

First up? Types of Decisions:

Maybe you’ve made the mental decision long ago that USF is your school and you want to go nowhere else, or maybe you have absolutely no idea where it is you want to go for college (or if you even want to go). Luckily, USF gives you a few options in terms of the final decision.

First, there’s Early Decision, which means that USF is your first choice. Early decision is binding, which means that if you are admitted to USF, you agree to enroll, and withdraw all other college applications. It’s set in stone.

Then there’s Early Action where if you’re really confident in your grades and test scores, as they stand at the beginning of your senior year then you’d apply. This is not binding, but for those who are more confident in their choice of USF.

Finally, there’s the always reliable option for the indecisive, Regular Decision, which allows you more time to create the best application possible and to submit the strongest academic credentials, including senior year grades.

Keep in mind: these deadlines are all DIFFERENT. Both Early Decision and Early Action deadlines arrive way before Regular Decision, so it’s good to decide how you want to apply earlier rather than later. However, if you can’t decide then you always get to fall back on Regular Decision, which is how most students apply.
