Lead role in RHCP’s New Music Video speaks to Stadium-Arcadium.com!
Stadium-Arcadium.com recently spoke to Melanee, the lead female actor in the music video for The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie! The Los Angeles based actor, producer, model, and singer shared some info with us about how the new Red Hot Chili Peppers single sounds, and, although she can’t share too much with us at this time (under production conditions), she even told us a little bit about the music video itself!
The Lead Female Role on RHCP’s New Single…
The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie has that funky Red Hot Chili Peppers bass beat you’d expect from Flea, meshed perfectly with a rhythm from Chad Smith you can’t help but want to bounce up and down to, groovin’ quirky lyricism from Anthony Kiedis, and some fresh string action from the “new” guy in town, Josh Klinghoffer. I’d call it very danceable and I hope people really enjoy rockin’ out to it – we certainly did, literally all day long!
As for the video, I don’t want to say too much, but I think it’s safe to say that Kreayshawn came up with a wicked awesome concept and you’re really going to love seeing what all the guys are doing– it’s like a bad-ass short film!
Interview coming soon…
Once the Music Video for The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie has aired, Melanee has kindly agreed to do an interview about the video for Stadium-Arcadium.com! We’re inviting fans to pose their questions to her and then we’ll pick a few of the best ones to ask! If you can think of a good question then please post it on our forum HERE and we’ll consider it for inclusion in our list of interview questions. Stay tuned for the interview!

NEW Interview with Anthony Kiedis about NEW RHCP Album I’m With You! Four track titles revealed!
Exclusive: Inside the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Comeback Album
14 Tracks on the New Album, Four song titles confirmed!
Published June 8, 11:40 AM By David Fricke
Exclusive: Inside the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Comeback Album
“There is no question – this is a beginning,” Anthony Kiedis, singer of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, says in his first interview about the band’s new album, I’m With You, which is released by Warner Bros. on August 30th. “Yeah, the sun is just coming up here.”
Produced by Rick Rubin, I’m With You is the Los Angeles quartet’s first studio album since the 2006 double-disk set, Stadium Arcadium. The 14-song record also marks the debut of the Chili Peppers’ new guitarist Josh Klinghoffer, who joined in the fall of 2009 following the departure of John Frusciante. The latter guitarist had been a crucial writer as well as player on the Chili Peppers’ biggest albums, including 1991’s Blood Sugar Sex Magik and 1999’s Californication. But after he quit, Kiedis and bassist Flea “had this intuitive feeling,” the singer says. “We’re not really done. We wanted to maintain the Red Hot Chili Peppers if we could do it in a way that upheld historcially what we had accomplished.
"There were some interesting conversations,” Kiedis goes on, “about do we try to find someone we don’t know, or maybe there is somebody right in our own backyard who is the perfect solution.” Klinghoffer, 31, was a veteran sideman who had recorded and toured with Beck, PJ Harvey and Tricky, among many others. He was also a friend of Frusciante’s, working on several of that guitarist’s solo records, and had performed with the Chili Peppers on their last world tour, playing extra guitar and keyboards.
“I felt like I had the experience,” Klinghoffer says in his first-ever press interview, sitting next to Kiedis on a couch in the singer’s Malibu home. “There was no real adjustment. This is playing music with people I admire and who have been friends for years.”
“Josh has not lacked the necessary assertions,” Kiedis notes. “His voice is as dominant as any other voice on the record.” That is literally true. In addition to playing guitar, Klinghoffer contributed keyboards and backing vocals. He also co-wrote the music with Kiedis, Flea and drummer Chad Smith.
The album’s first single, “The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie,” is a hard-pop spin on classic Chili Peppers funk, with a creeping bass line and a marching-disco rhythm in the chorus reminiscent of the late-Seventies Rolling Stones. In fact, Flea likens the rich propulsive interplay on I’m With You – the mix of jamming exploration, textural guitar details and savvy hooks in songs such as “The Monarchy of Roses,” “Factory of Faith” and “See You Around” – to the classic Stones albums like Exile on Main Street and Tattoo You that he listened to religiously as the Chili Peppers wrote and improvised on new material in 2009 and 2010. “It’s about a feeling and a song.” Flea says of the connection, “about everyone embracing the moment of the song, not always about the riff.”
The Chili Peppers are currently in rehearsals and plan to tour extensively in support of I’m With You. “Forever” is how Flea puts it. “I know when we write mediocre stuff, and when we write good stuff,” Kiedis says. “I can’t wait to go out and play this.”
Four Track Titles now confirmed!
-“The Adventures of Raindance Maggie”
-“The Monarchy of Roses”
-“Factory of Faith”

Brendan’s Death Song - Red Hot Chili Peppers
Brendan’s Death Song - Red Hot Chili Peppers
Anthony Kiedis breaks down the making of the Red Hot Chili Pepper’s Best track from new album, I’m With You.
The Subject
“Brendan Mullen is a guy who came to Hollywood from the UK in the mid-‘70s and helped start the punk rock scene in LA. He ran a club called the Masque, which was technically the first punk rock club in LA, He went on to be the booker for Club Lingerie on Sunset Strip- a very prominent venue in the ‘80s. His thing was promoting music.”
The Background
“In 1983 Flea and I spent our last dime recording a demo tape. We barged into Club Lingerie in the middle of the day and found Brendan. He listened to our tape on our boom box and Flea and I danced around wildly to convey the sort of energy we were bringing to the table. Brendan offered us a slot opening up for Bad Brains- who at that point were the kings of the scene. We took that gig and started a friendship with Brendan that continued until he died 18 months ago. That was in the middle of him doing a coffee table book [The Red Hot Chili Peppers: An Oral/Visual History]”.
The Writing
“Brendan happened to die on the very first day we were going to rehearse with Josh Klinghoffer. I was driving from home up over the Santa Monica Mountains when I got a text saying that Brendan had died of a massive stroke- on his birthday. When I got to rehearsal I delivered the news to my band that we had just lost this beautiful person. And then we started playing without really talking. Probably the second thing that came out of that jam was the basis for Brendan’s Death Song.”
The Song
“We got a good recording of it with Rick [Rubin]. It does have a sort of death march feel to it, but the song is more a celebration than a bummer. My favourite part of the song came much later-which is the bridge section, where it gets quite dark there for a moment and there’s this feeling of falling into the unknown abyss, of dying. So, yes, we lost a good man, but he had a very full life.”
From the September 2011 issue of Q Magazine.
