Frozen Pier at Lake Michigan
Located on Lake Michigan is the century old St. Joseph North Pier. When the wind moves across the pier during Michigan’s freezing winter months, large waves crashing upon the pier and lighthouses literally freeze the ocean water in place, creating beautifully sculptured ice formations.
Over the years, environmental and landscape photographer Tom Gill has journeyed to the pier to capture the amazing ice formations. His photographs have been published worldwide and can be seen in his Flickr album titled Frozen World.
