Chiang Mai Journal

Last summer we travelled to Northern Thailand for the first time. Chiang Mai has been on my go-to list for quite some time so I was delighted to finally make it! But…to be honest, Chiang Mai was a slow burn for me, not quite the love-at-first-sight affair I had with Bali. But slowly, slowly, I began to appreciate her charms. As always, Thailand for me is about a certain joie de vivre, an easy-going spirit laced with ancient traditions. In Chiang Mai, we found that and more: Invitations to dine with strangers who could barely speak English, Thai massages to die for, witnessing the transcendent chanting of monks, glittering temples in gold and weathered in teak, art galleries and the conviviality of night life. It’s all here in Chiang Mai…so shall we take a wander through this ancient city over the next few days? Come along as we revisit our trip and warm up this February weather with some Thai sunshine…
