El Gouna En Brefs: Ashraf Hanafi in El Gouna
If you followed my reports from the Banque Misr Sky Open back in November, you cannot not remember that amazing character that is Ashraf.
If I had to describe him in a sentence, I would say “an Egyptian Spirit in a German Attitude”.
Apparently, when he was coaching in Germany, the natives thought he was a bit strict! That’s tells you about the man.
Ashraf is Head Coach at the Heliopolis Club – working with Haitham Effat and organises camps regularly, he was the heart and soul behind the “In Love with Egypt” campaign that led to organising the Banque Misr Open, and is also doing the commentating with Omar Abdel Aziz for the Egyptian TV retransmitting the event (ONTV live and Nile Sport).
He is a man of his word. If he tells you he’ll do something, consider it done. I have plenty, plenty, plenty of time for this true gentleman. And when you ask yourself why Egyptian squash is that impressive, it’s because of people of his calibre.
