Next weekend is our first wedding anniversary. We’ve chosen to celebrate the anniversary of the wedding in Toronto and not the one in China, since the former was the legal one and the latter was an excuse to eat everything ever.
I’ve been trying to find this place for a while. It’s where Maggie and I went on our first Valentine’s (we had been dating three weeks or so at the time). I thought it would be more special since what I consider to be our first date was buying a bunch of ice cream in the middle of the night in late December and breaking into an empty university lecture building to eat it.
I’m not 100% sure this is the right place, seeing as how I had taken Maggie out to what I thought was a great restaurant, only to find that it was closed on Valentine’s (wtf), leaving us wandering around Little Italy for a little bit before finding a place.
Whatever, it’s not like she’ll know the difference. Before we got married, I had to remind her what our dating anniversary was. She’s not really sentimental like that. At least, not until the sentimentality is staring her right in the face. Then, she’s appreciative.
In the end, all that matters is that the tables are candlelit at night, since she spent an inordinate amount of time during our first romantic dinner trying to discreetly burn things.
