“Urban Outfitters sincerely apologizes for our Vintage Kent State Sweatshirt. It absolutely was our intention to allude to the tragic events that took place at Kent State in 1970, and we are extremely saddened that people are mad at us now. The one-of-a-kind item was purchased by a team of insensitive jerks who are obeying our directive to co-opt public outrage as part of our ongoing effort to get free PR for our collection. There is no blood on this shirt nor has this item been altered in any way, except for the red stains which are deliberately designed to invoke bloodstains. Again, we deeply regret that this item was perceived negatively and we have removed it immediately from our website to avoid further upset, but will continue to sell it in our stores and at our outlet warehouses, and we will be completely fine with the "unaffiliated individuals” who will further inflate the price of this unique item on ebay, since this increases our hipster cache and brand awareness.“
