Hello from Lynda Williams, September 2015. In the Okal Rel Universe domestic power is drawn from the charge stored in rel-batteries during reality skimming flight. So we have the saying that things people do to keep us believing in the creative spirit “charge our rel-batteries”.
It’s certainly a charge, for me, to be working with Yukari Yamamoto on the first reboot edition of the Okal Rel Saga and to have a blog here on Tumblr to help us share and celebrate our new era publishing gig.
Last year, one of the Okal Rel contributors to an Opus anthology and a long-time friend of our family, Mel Farrow, told me I should do something Okal Rel on Tumblr. I remember a humorous conversation where I kept saying things like “Yes, such things work if you’re already famous!” and things of the kind. I was going through a period when being just a little bit famous seemed to be some sort of dreadful mistake in what felt to me at the time to be an “all or nothing world”. So Mel, if you are out there on Tumblr, maybe you’ll be pleased to know Yukari had the same idea and here we are. No huge expectations or impossible goals. Just flying for our own reasons, which is where I’ve always been happiest.
