Photo of the day: Total solar eclipse forms ‘diamond ring’ over Australia
More than 50,000 spectators and scientists flocked to remote northern Australia to watch the region’s first total solar eclipse in 1,300 years, according to SPACE.com. Despite some partial cloud cover, observers were still able to see the eclipse, which lasted for slightly longer than two minutes. The dramatic event is the first since 2010 and will be the last until 2015.
