PS4 Announced - All Details From #PlayStation2013
The PlayStation Meeting 2013 has finished, going into great depth about the PS4. Games, features and Holiday 2013!
To summarise, it’s best put in bullet format for clarity’s sake. Here’s how the 2 hour conference went:
- The system will indeed by called PS4 and will launch in Holiday 2013.
- A brand new UI with social enhancements - featuring facebook and ustream connectivity
- The prototype controller leaked pictures are partially legit.
- Controller has touch pad, headphone jack, light up bar and touch panel.
- Share button on controller allows you to instantly share gameplay
- Players can remotely take over their friends game to offer them assistance
- Gameplay can be uploaded
- Spectating other gameplay is available.
- Games can be played whilst downloading.
- Gamers can test games using the Gaikai streaming technology before purchasing.
- System will not be backwards compatible but gamers can access library via streaming technology
- Streaming tech to rolled out in phases.
- As rumoured, the PS4 will allow connectivity to tablets, phones and the Vita.
- Gaikai technology implemented to ensure seamless Remote Play on the go with PlayStation Vita.
- Console will be easy to develop for - more PC style architecture.
- 8GB of RAM
- x86 based CPU
- 2 teraflops of power
- Games can be loaded instantaneously due to the system’s RAM.
- Variety of services such as Hulu+, Netflix, MLB.tv to be rolled out - more info at E3.
- Knack - game by Sony Studio Japan announced.
- Killzone: Shadow Fall announced
- Drive Club by Evolution Studios announced - collaborative racing simulator
- inFAMOUS: Second Son announced - new hero - Delsin Rowe
- The Witness - indie looking title by the creators of Braid.
- Quantic Dream’s David Cage shows new engine face rendering.
- Media Molecule show enthusiasm for Move controller - show mystery demo.
- Many third party publishers and developers on board for PS4 as expected.
- New Capcom engine called Panta Rhei shown and working title - Deep Down shown.
- Square Enix show Luminous Engine demo running on PS4 - new Final Fantasy title will be shown at E3.
- Watch Dogs demoed again - looks amazing and will be out on PS4
- Blizzard Entertainment confirm Diablo III for PS3 and PS4 with co-op mode.
- Bungie on-stage and show Destiny sizzle reel. Coming to PS4 on the day the game launches.
