The Dark Sorcerer Tech Demo Used 4GB of PS4’s GDDR5 RAM
The Dark Sorcerer tech demo from Quantic Dream, the talent behind Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls, that wowed audiences at E3 has been reported to have used 4GBs of the PS4’s GDDR5 RAM.
If you haven’t seen the equally hilarious as it is beautiful demo, you can check it out below.
The information comes from a video taken at E3 whereby Quantic Dream’s Gavin Niebel explains the inner-workings of the demo. The demo is running completely in real-time, natively at 1080p, only using 4 of the 8 gigabytes of PS4 GDDR5 RAM.
What’s more, the demo is running between 30 and 90 frames per second, the variation due to the fact that the framerate was not optimised at this time. Moreover, the demo utilises over 1 million polygons for the set seen on camera alone.
Whilst it remains to be seen whether these characters in the demo will be in some form of final game, one thing is for sure, the next-gen is exciting!
