OOTD 6.8.2012 & 6.13.2012 :: Lace and grace, two ways

The problem with being a personal shopper is that sometimes when you style an item for someone else, you end up selling yourself on those same ideas. Although I’ve been out of the professional styling game for about a year due to my hellacious work schedule, when former clients ping me for help I never say no. Loyalty and all that.

One of my favorite clients was interested in the Tulip Lace Shell but wasn’t sure how to style it. Time didn’t allow me to go shopping with her in person, so I worked up four quick sets and emailed them to her. And for efficiency purposes I used those same sets as the basis for a guest post on What the Frock?.

But then the shell was stuck in my head. I’d be shopping and thinking, how cute would that lace shell look over this dress? Or under this top? Or with these pants? Next thing I know I’m back at Anthropologie buying the damn thing for myself. I’m usually pretty good at controlling those impulses but I sold myself into this pretty lace shell. (And then later I sold Kathryn and Carol into buying it too, but that’s another post!)

The first look was from last week’s Los Angeles trip. I wore this outfit to meet with an agent, and a production studio. Because yes I’m pitching my script again. More on that to come! The lace shell works great over a dress. It doesn’t add much weight so I stay cool but it does pretty things up nicely. And look 2 is a work look. I love the neon trend happening right now! But a client meeting necessitated dropping the neon from 11 to about 4, so I subbed in mint under the shell. What do you think? Did I do OK? Can I keep it?!?

And here’s look 2. I went sparse on accessories; I like to keep things simple.
