Collaborators
One of the great things about the recent Australian Interactive Games Fund grant that Black Lab Games received is that I’ve been able to get some help with game. I’d like to introduce the awesome people that are my co-conspirators in making Star Hammer: The Vanguard Prophecy.
As well as being an award-winning board game designer, Anthony Sweet is video game designer and author. Anthony is working with me the game design, and is writing the story and character dialogue. We want the story to actually matter, and have a number if ideas on to how make the game world more immersive and interesting, some of which we think are quite unique and haven’t been tried before.
One of the criticism of Star Hammer Tactics was that the graphics weren’t great. I don’t totally disagree, because I had a pretty tiny budget for art. Fortunately, I’ve now got a team are art professionals working with me and I think this game is going to look great!
Anthony Carriero is the Art Director. He’s worked in games, film and advertising and has vast artistic experience (and talent!) in creating digital art. He’s defining the overall look for the game, and has recently been working numerous of concept pieces. Here’s one for a Corvette, a mid-sized ship that players will be able to add to thier fleet and take into battle.

Mark Smith is a 3D modeller and animator, and he’s creating the 3D models that will go into the game. We don’t have any finished production models yet, but we will soon and I’ll share some in-game imagery when I can. You can check out some of Marks previous work on his site here.
Rounding out the art team is Richard Kong, who is working on the user interface design and look-and-feel. Rich is an ace illustrator and UI design specialist, so you can be sure the interface will not only look great, but be easy to understand and use. You can see some of his previous work here
Until next time…
